Springing forth from the trials of lockdown 2020 comes a trans-continental musical study of both the charms and consequences of technology. In particular its impact on true, human connection.

The Medium is the Message features music by Melbourne-based Barney McAll, lyrics by Greta Gertler Gold, vocals by Alexa Ford and Gian Slater’s Invenio Choir. With NYC-based rhythm section of Jonathan Maron (Groove Collective) and Matt Johnston (Jeff Buckley), the song at times takes off into an otherworldly realm.

With a music video slated for release in April, the creative team behind this song is hosting a Zoom Launch Party on March 19 (AEDT) at 12 o’clock (8pm EST USA, so that the NYC-based collaborators can reconnect technology-style for the birth of their brilliant new Single.

"The medium is the message" is a phrase coined by the Canadian communication theorist Marshall McLuhan and introduced in his Understanding Media: The Extensions of Man, published in 1964.[1][2] McLuhan proposes that a communication medium itself, not the messages it carries, should be the primary focus of study. He showed that artifacts as media affect any society by their characteristics, or content.
