POEM TEXT:
“When I was a child, I used to swim for hours in the shallows at Mt Martha beach. Mask, snorkel, flippers amazement. I would chase the baby flathead that would skim the sand and, was fascinated by all the beautiful sea life and the essence of nature. Intermittent warm currents would wash over me and it would feel so comforting and sanguine.
This ebb and flow was accepted without question. Can I continue to accept it?
I used to love the early morning after a king tide at Silverleaves when I would chase the thousand soldier crabs that would burrow under the sand to be reclusive within an instant. Does it matter where they went?
As I delve further into music I see that in many ways, I have been trying to recreate those tides, currents and crustaceans with sound. As every wave is unique -
I wish to be relieved of the bondage of self. “

This piece is about applying Buddhist ideas of impermanence to current hurts.
CHORUS: It’s only temporary permanence.
Whatever it is, it doesn’t change that tomorrow is a new day
And nothing will stay the same
How can your heart survive
Another rollercoaster ride
your lover’s pride hurts like
when you were just a child.
CHORUS: It’s only temporary permanence.
Whatever it is, it doesn’t change that tomorrow is a new day
And nothing will stay the same
Aaaahhhh
All but your fingerprints is going to change.
CHORUS: It’s only temporary permanence.
Whatever it is, it doesn’t change that tomorrow is a new day
And nothing will stay the same
what will become of us?
Is it a life if we are just,
searching for lust,
because one is never enough
Outro:
Aaaahhhh
Don’t look now, it’ll make you mad.
And the past is done, so you don’t look back.
It won’t hurt for long.
You’re never alone. And you’re always home.

"Maybe I have gone out of my mind
Living in a daydream all the time
Feels like I'm seeing through the looking glass
I hope it's true, they say all things must pass
But once in a while, lift your mystery veil
But once in a while, tell your secret tales
I wanna know why the sun hits my skin
Each time I smile, though it ain't easy to remember, I will try
Head to the sky, I'm not far behind, I won't defy
Rise up, you can be more than your past
You know there's just so much to say
What we don't own we try to give away
You asked me if I feel it's gonna last
For all I know, I'm still tied to the mast
But once in a while, lift your mystery veil
But once in a while, tell your secret tales
Rise up, rise up, see yourself and rise up
Rise up, you can be more than your past"

"You've got to make your mind up
Elites keep saying just roll with the punches
Meanwhile we see their coppers roll in with truncheons
These crooks lining pockets like snakes in the grass
Using all our fears for the sick ruling class
Fake tradies afraid to get jabbed in the arm hole
Meanwhile the music biz falls into a sinkhole
Cashed up bogans all raging with fear
Meanwhile musicians drinking crocodile tears
Bitcoin and Ukraine and vaccines and frowns
Meanwhile whales stealing our NFT crowns
Birds making nests from a fright wig scarecrow
Our souls are in escrow
You've got to make your mind up
Why must we suffer this civilisation burnout
Crowning king idiots that the billionaires churn out
Nature tells tales of ‘gods last offer‘
While Bezos hoards billions in bulging gold coffers
Now blood is raining down upon innocent day shoppers
And pigs are flying overhead in black hawk down choppers
Turning and turning within the widening gyre
The falcon simulacrums are fanning this pyre
Of clickbait and spam bots and stars without makeup
And Clive Palmer's mines spewing societal death traps
That shatters our futures and erases the past
And renders the true spiritual owners into overdraft
But this mouse will roar though and plunder the rich
And vanish their mansions in the coming bait and switch:
Mother earth says 'You wanna mess with me'?
Prepare ample coffins
For the blind bourgeoisie"

LYRICS:
"It felt like a volcano exploded all over
It felt like this lava might bury so many
Clouds of Covid, clouds of Covid
The first time I met him was the last time I saw him
He asked me, I'll tell him how I felt, how I fled
Clouds of Covid, clouds of Covid"

VALIDATION DISORDER

Lyrics:
"This validation, disorder,
This validation disorder
This constant scrolling, for a fix,
A fix that stays broke, disorder
This quiet invasion, of the real,
Of what was once real, disorder
Validate? Invalidate?"

LYRICS:
I'm walking out in a force-ten gale
Birds thrown around, bullets for hail
The roof is pulling off by its fingernails
Your voice is rapping on my window-sill
Yesterday's headlines blown by the wind
Yesterday's people in a scatterbrain
Any fool can easy pick a hole
I only wish I could fall in
A moving target in a firing range
Somewhere I'm not
Scatterbrain
Somewhere I'm not
Scatterbrain
Lightning fuse, powercut
Scatterbrain

LYRICS
I lost my will
I broke my own rules
I wandered around in the dark with no flame
Cleansed by the rain tears from my heart
They took my soul to the river and Ill never go back to the dark
Chorus
Cant stop , won’t give up , no I won’t lose my way
I can’t stop sunshine will rule my day
Cant stop , won’t give up , no I won’t lose my way
I can’t stop sunshine will rule my day
No room for doubt, my time is now
Stars in these eyes will never fade
I spilled the wine
I shadowed my time
Searching in all the wrong places for love
But wouldn’t you know
My cup did overflow
Now Ill trade in my sorrow cause I found a second wind
Outro
Keepin both my feet on the ground
Dont mean I can’t still wear the crown
What you seek is seeking you

Brooklyn Singing Twinkle Twinkle
"There is another world beyond those six-foot gates
When the padlock releases and the chain unravels
A portal opens and we can see
The new world – going mad
It’s a place foreign to us
We’re under new rule
A dictator, who demands compliance
Commands distance from family
While standing on the cliff of life
Plunging loved ones into isolation
Nudging millions to their death
He calls himself Covid
Sees no colour
But dominates power over our families
And communities
Black and Brown Indigenous and elderly
Homeless, sick and vulnerable
His power reigns supreme
And as the world succumbs to his rule
We stand in our yard and watch him
Consume breaths
As fear rises like the smoke during dry season burn off
But we, our tiny family of three
We keep our six-foot gates closed
Chained and locked
Within these gates we are safe
Mum's built a playground in our backyard
We don’t need to go to the park
The world is new beyond the gates
Our community, no longer safe
People cover their faces
Show only their eyes
Masks and scarves
And greed amongst the aisles
Of supermarkets
So we stay home
We play shopping games on the computer
Then the food appears on our doorstep
It’s the way of the future
I never did like online shopping though
But now all our rooms are built of Lego
We all have mini libraries
Where we adventure to far off lands
Fight dragons and solve unsolvable mysteries
Learn more about our history
As covid inserts himself into our present
But my children and I love being home
We are bakers of delicacies and chefs of 5-star meals
In our family restaurant we call 'a humble kitchen'
We learn to share the load
Within our quiet family home
We stay home
Within these gates we are safe
My motherly instincts pump with steroids
While my children are deep in their slumber, I stand guard
Beneath the stars
And wish upon them for a brighter tomorrow
When the sun awakens and their eyes open
They run through their playground
Eat their fill of home-baked delights
Build miniature castles out of colorful bricks
And revel in their fort within these gates
And I, their matriarch, provide sanctuary
Shield them from harm, feed their strength
Honor and elevate their resilience
So when they leave our six-foot gates
They will be safe."
